THE ANNUAL PAGEANT
OF THE FAIR QUEEN & PRINCESSES

 

Each year, starting in January, the Wayne County Fair starts the process of selecting a Queen and her court, plus three Princesses and their court, and one Miss Congeniality.

2008 marks the 29th annual Pageant of the Queen and her Court where nine winners will again reign over the annual Wayne County Fair.

If you are interested in joining the tradition, please contact the pageant coordinator and review all three pages of the application. Page 1 must be turned into Pageant Coordinator by March 1, 2008. Pageant is scheduleD for April 25.

Queen - Heather Mackey, Marion
    1st Runner Up - Kelly Matava, Ontario
    2nd Runner Up - Leah Paschke, Williamson
    3rd Runner Up - Seana Sharpstene, Ontario
    Miss Congeniality - Kristin Hance, Marion

Princess - Katrina Fedczuk, Newark
    1st Runner Up - Heather Perez, Lyons
    2nd Runner Up - Stephanie Pealo, Marion
    3rd Runner Up - Jade Roegiers, Marion

PRELIMINARY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Each contestant must be in a Wayne County 4-H Club or be a Wayne County resident
  • Girls between the ages of 12-14 compete for Princess and Court.
  • Girls between the ages of 15-18 compete for Queen and court.
  • All contestants are eligible for Miss Congeniality, who is chosen by the other contestents.

Contestants will have an opportunity to enhance their public speaking and interpersonal skills.
The judges will be looking at poise, personality, charm, grammer, gracefulness, leadership and overall presentation.

JUDGES INTERVIEWS:     

2008 - Applications being taken until March 1.

Event takes place at Marion Jr. Sr. High School, Warner Road, Marion, NY. Contestants need to be in the auditorium by 6 pm sharp, dressed for their interview with the judges. 
Contestants will be going through a full pageant dress rehearsal and may bring their formal shoes to practice modeling their eveningwear.

2008 Pageant: Friday, April 25, 7pm. Open to the Public.

DUTIES OF THE QUEEN, PRINCESSES, AND THE COURT:

These girls will reign over the fair by being there each day and participating in numerous events, which include:

  • Milking a goat
  • Presenting awards
  • Working with children and various departments of the fair
  • Helping to present winners of raffles and give-aways
  • Represent the fair at parades during the summer months
  • Represent the fair at events through out the county
  • Give interviews promoting the fair
  • Helping some of the major sponsors of the fair promote their products.
  • Enjoy and meet many new people and make many new friends

DONATIONS:

Gifts are presented to each contestant by many merchants and friends of the fair. We are always in need of merchandise and gift certificates from local companies, merchants or individuals who would like to contribute to either the pageant or the fair.
