GRANGE

Monday, August 13, 2007 – 10:00 AM

Members of local grange organizations, which are agricultural-based civic groups, are invited to contact the supervisor for entry confirmation. We are encouraging more youth involvement with an opportunity for junior entries to be entered at the state and national level competitions.

DIVISION 1 - SUBORDINATE GRANGES

Entry Fee: Each Grange Booth/Group shall pay a $10.00 entry fee. Checks are to be made out to “Union Agricultural Society at Palmyra”. Fee and applications are due by June 1, 2007.

Exhibits must be in place by Sunday evening, August 13, and not be removed until Sunday, August 20 between 8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon.

Entry Requirements: (click here for entry form)

  1. Each booth must have a theme sign depicting the theme of your booth, keeping within the theme of the fair. This year, the theme of the fair is “Home Town Pride At The Wayne County Fair.
  2. The booths are 10’ on front and 8’ deep. Exhibits must be at the floor level or on a platform not more than 30” high at the front. For protection the front of the booth is covered with a fence provided by Pomona Grange.
  3. All exhibitors must provide any additional light not already provided by the fair.
  4. All exhibits must be done by members of that Grange.
  5. NO members associated with the booths in any way may be in the area when the booths are being judged. Judging will take place on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 10:00 AM.
  6. In the event that not all the subordinate and junior booths are occupied by subordinate and junior granges; Pomona Departments such as youth, legislative, CWA, Family Activities, deaf, sports, etc. may fill the spaces and receive Worthy Exhibit Awards and premium money (score must be above 65 points). Department booths will not be in competition with subordinate booths.
  7. Specific Grange name signs are not to be displayed until after judging.
  8. All scores below 65 points will receive 10% less premium.

Scoring rules: The following scoring value will be used by the judges to evaluate each exhibit. The judges will be instructed to use these values and the decision of the judges will be final.

  • Educational value: 20 points;
  • Development of theme: 20 points;
  • Ability to attract and hold attention: 20 points;
  • Best use of materials: 10 points;
  • Workmanship and labor involved 10 points;
  • Signs and placards that explain: 10 points;
  • Arrangements: 10 points.

Total: 100 points

 

DIV. 1 - SUBORDINATE GRANGES

Prizes will be awarded as follows:

1st Place $110.00 - Blue Ribbon

2nd Place $90.00 - Red Ribbon

3rd Place $80.00 - Yellow Ribbon

Worthy Exhibit $50.00 - White Ribbon (score must be above 65 points)

Pomona Exhibit: Premium $125.00 - Blue Ribbon

DIVISION 2 - JUNIORS AGES 5-14

Junior CRAFTS

National and State Grange Junior Crafts must be checked in on Sunday morning, August 14, 9:00 AM - noon. Judging will follow check-in. If you have crafts make sure to sign up for a booth for Juniors as it will be on the main floor of Floral Hall.

  1. NO ENTRY FEE.
  2. Follow same rules as Division 1.
  3. Same scoring values as in Division I.

Prizes shall be awarded as follows:

1st place $50.00  - Blue Ribbon

2nd place $40.00  - Red Ribbon

3rd place $30.00  - Yellow Ribbon

Worthy Exhibit  - White Ribbon
